Curator: Another collaboration with Inoue, this time exploring the idea of cloudiness. Through the structured airvase, his soft washes of colour become something you can hold and view from every angle.
Inoue experimented with soft washes of colour inspired by drifting clouds, mist and smoke. Deep blues and sea greens on one side contrast with lighter tones on the other.
When expanded, the colours on the inside and outside of the airvase overlap and shift as you move around it. The shifting colours give the airvase a different character from every angle, making it as much an artwork for display as it is a sculptural object.
The airvase transforms from a flat sheet into a lightweight yet rigid paper bowl that can be reshaped simply by adjusting how widely it is opened. Each set includes 3 airvases with artwork printed on both sides, creating 6 different designs.
