Curator: Inspired by Gaudí's organic architecture, legendary manga artist Takehiko Inoue created the expressive artwork for this collaboration with TORAFU ARCHITECTS' airvase. As the paper expands, the artwork unfolds into a new dimension.
Inoue experimented with expressive circles of traditional Japanese ink, known as guriguri. As the paper expands, the sweeping brushstrokes wrap around the form, changing with every curve and angle.
Originally created alongside the exhibition Takehiko Inoue Interprets Gaudí's Universe, the design reflects a shared interest in movement, organic form and architecture. Somewhere between a decorative bowl and a paper sculpture, the airvase transforms from a flat sheet into a lightweight yet rigid form that can be reshaped simply by adjusting how widely it is opened. Each set includes 3 airvases with artwork printed on both sides, creating 6 different designs.
